Applications of magnetic particle testing:
(Only for surface defects)
1. Control of welds on all material thicknesses.
2. Control of lamination at joint edges prior to welding.
3. Detection of stress defects/cracks on structures, shafts, etc.
4. Detection of flaws in castings and steel.
5. Only ferromagnetic materials can be tested with magnetic particles.
